How Do I Get Rid Of A Sty On My Right Eyelid?

default
Posted on Tue, 12 Jan 2021
Question: I have a sty on my right eyelid and it began in February and have seen my eye doctor and he did a procedure to remove it in April. I have been using compresses and using a prescribed ointment for a week. This problem did not resolve and I went back to see another doctor who gave me eye drops to use along with compresses 2 times a day and that didn’t work either. Today it is painful and an obvious pump has appeared again. How do I get rid of this? Would antibiotics help at this point?

Brief Answer:
Considerations

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I am sorry this continues to be a problem for you.

At this point it may be reasonable to consider a course of oral antibiotics to give your immune system a boost to help eliminate any bacteria under the surface of the skin or eye tissue.

Often I will use both a topical and oral antibiotic combination for this sort of thing.

You should discuss this with your primary doctor to see if this may be something he might consider.

If despite antibiotics you continue to have this issue then would consider seeking another ophthalmologist opinion regarding definitive mnagement or if some other type of procedure might be warranted to eliminate this problem.

Thank you again for the query,

Thank you Dr. XXXXXXX I will speak with my primary on Monday and I am glad you think antibiotics are in order because that is what I think as well. I do still have some of the antibiotic eye drops that I can use as well along with the oral antibiotics.

Thanks again, XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
