default
Posted on Thu, 12 Mar 2015
Question: I started to use Viagra when I really didn't need it...more to enhance my sexual relationship with my girl friend. Now I believe that I am psychologically dependent on it . How do I break this cycle?..I have no problem achieving an erection when I am by myself...but when I am with her my mind seems to have convinced myself that i can not maintain an erection without taking the pill....Once that thought is in your mind...well you know what happens....I would also like to solve this problem on my own without my girl friend knowing

Brief Answer:
This is occurring due to anxiety and this should be reduced

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

You are taking Sildenafil to enhance sexual relationship with your girlfriend and now you have become psychologically dependent on that drug. You can achieve erection when alone but when you are with your girlfriend you start thinking that you would not achieve erection and you are compelled to take the drug.

First of all I would like to tell you that in most of individuals with problems of erectile dysfunction main cause that is found is psychological. If an individual is able to achieve erection alone during masturbation or have spontaneous early morning erection then any organic cause can be ruled out. It appears that you have developed anxiety and some obsessive fear about that drug.

One method to break that cycle is by behavioural modification. You can start by reducing the dose of drug as if you are taking 50 mg of doses you can take half of dose for some weeks and then can stop completely at end of 4 weeks. This would not result in any significant impact on your mind and you will feel better.

Other method is to shift from that drug to some herbal supplement which is used in ED and then stopping from that herbal supplement would be little easier. Tantex Forte tablet can be taken for that. The drug is a safe drug and is free of side effects.

Third option is to take some anti-anxiety drug and this would relax you prior to intercourse and you will feel better. For some time low dose benzodiazepine drug like Clonazepam can be used. The drug can be used on SOS basis and you will not face any abnormal thoughts prior to sexual intercourse. Try to spend long time in imagining yourself with your girl and in foreplay. This will result in hard erection and you will feel better. Visit a doctor for prescription of the drug.

Thanks, hope this helps you. If you have more doubts please ask again.
