Brief Answer:
Allergic Urticaria

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

You gave very story history about your disease. You develop hives or urticaria due to detergent. It may be called allergic urticaria. It may occur off and on due to contact with detergents. And there may be other causes also.

You may consult the dermatologist personally for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment.

If it is confirmed that only detergent is the trigger, then the best method to prevent urticaria is just the avoidance of contact with detergent.

When it occurs, take antihistamines like Desloratadine 5 mg daily and the dose may be increased if needed. Steroids may be considered in severe case as short and tapering course.

Hope I have answered you. If you have any query, do not hesitate to ask. I would be happy to answer.

Thanks.
Regards,
Dr. Ilyas Patel

I have known I am allergic to Tide for about 15 years. I usually use All Free and Clear. However, someone helped me with a load of laundry last week and forgot, and used Tide. Now I am dealing with hives all over my body. I am on Medicaid (unemployed), and don't have much money for medications, and switching insurances back to Medicaid is a hassle.

I am looking for info if any bipolar meds don't make you drowsy. When I am taking my bipolar meds I sleep 13 hrs a day, which doesn't work to well to hold down a job.

Brief Answer:
Allergic urticaria

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

You may take cetirizine 10 mg daily for few weeks or till your hives are controlled. And do not come in contact with known triggers.

As far as bipolar treatment is concerned, I request you to contact psychiatrist on this platform. They would be able to guide you much better than I do on this topic.

Hope this helps you.
Thanks.
