Question: is it normal to look like this after an abscess??

Yes, this appearance is expected after an abscess.

As healing continues , the pigmentation would change back towards that of the surrounding skin ,though, as with any area of trauma, there may be a slight difference noted.

It can take a few weeks for this return to occur

The area may also feel slighter firmer or harder than the surrounding skin. This would have also occurred as part of the body's inflammatory response.
