Brief Answer:
More pros than cons

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the query.

Makoplasty is arthoplasty procedure performed by MAKO technique developed by MAKO company using 3-D computerised positioning.

Though the basic principle of MAKOplasty and arthoplasty are same,MAKOplasty offers minimally invasive technique. It requires smaller incision and hence lesser hospital stay.

Pain is obviously less as opposed to conventional arthoplasty.

The recovery period is less in MAKOplasty and you can get back to work comparatively earlier.

Precision-wise ,MAKOplasty is 4-5 times more accurate. The positioning of the implant inside the socket, its angulation and axis ,all are done with utmost precision. Hence, complications like impingement, wear and tear of implant are less in MAKOplasty.

Cons are comparatively less.Difficult operating technique, needs good expertise and orientation as far as the surgeon is concerned. Also, technical issues are of a concern.

So,my personal opinion is a thumbs up for MAKOplasty.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any further doubts that you may have.

Thank you.

Take care.
