Question : My ECG readings are normal, can I go for Troponin test to check further ? is this test really useful to find if I have any cardiovascular blocks ? please clarify.
Brief Answer:
Further testing is based on clinical presentation....
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I would not order troponin T test or other cardiac marker (CK MB) when ECG is normal and there is clinical history of chest pain. But if you have had typical chest pain, then it is advisable to get those marker done despite normal ECG.
Cardiac marker indicates ischemic changes in the heart. It doesn't isolate blocks. Angiogram is a test that isolates blocks.
Hope I have answered all your question. Let me know if you need clarifications.
