How Effective Is Cortisone Injection In Relieving Pain?
Question: I have some muscular knots that are painful that supposedly come from my neck (according to my chiropractor). I've had massages and chiropractic ultrasounds. It has been almost 2 weeks and I still have a fair amount of pain and discomfort. Would a cortisone injection help with the pain? Go to an orthopedist?
Brief Answer:
Consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
Muscular knots in your neck could be due to associated muscle spasm. Since it has been persisted for 2 weeks, it must be investigated. I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the cervical spine under his/her guidance to look for arthritis or other changes in your spine. Cortisone injection would be helpful if there is severe inflammation.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care

I would like to know what specifically you think should be investigated and why?
Brief Answer:
For cervical spondylitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You should be investigated for cervical spondylitis. Pain and associated muscle spasm seems to be due to this condition.
Warm regards.
