How Effective Is Plan B In Avoiding Pregnancy?

Question: Hi, My girlfriend had to take Plan B pill because the condom broke. She took the Plan B pill immediately. Two days later was her time for her period and she is hardly having a period. Is this normal?

I also wanted to know if the Plan B does not work, is there a different method of avoiding pregnancy without having abortion?
If so what is it called?

BDW, the condom broke on Saturday 9/12/15 at 7:00 pm, she took Plan B on Sun 9/13/15 at 10:00 am. Her weight is about 120 pounds.

She is also complaining that she is having a lot of Paine in her abdominal section and her vagina section.

Period can occur even if there is light bleeding,but also this can be implantational bleeding which however isnt common after 2 days and also she wasnt in her fertile days,but pregnancy cant be ruled out 100%, Chances for pregnancy are negligible,but to rule this for sure,she should do pregnancy test in 1 week.

There is no method for contraception or abortion pill that can be used after 2 days from possible fertilization. Abortion can be done by medical professional
