How Effective Is Chelation Therapy In Treatment For Aortic Stenosis?

default
Posted on Fri, 24 Apr 2015
Question: My mother is 93, still "with it" but frail, with aortic stenosis congestive heart faliure. Doctors won't operate to correct the aortic stenosis because of her age. Chelation seems much less invasive. Would it help the aortic stenosis?

Brief Answer:
No, chelation therapy cannot help treat diseased heart valves (e.g. AS)

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Chelation therapy has been primarily targeted towards coronary heart disease, atheroscleoris and all conditions that are related to hardening of the heart valves.

There has been no proof or evidence that chelation therapy can help treat or improve conditions relating to diseased heart valves. But it can however help to prevent myocardial infarctions, improve symptoms, and improve cardiac function. But the answer to your question would be a No. Chelation therapy will not help to treat diseased heart valves.

I hope you find my response both helpful and informative. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.
