How Imminent Are Blood Borne Diseases Through A Dirty Needle Used On A Toddler For Vaccination?

Question: Hi,
I took my 20 month old daughter for a vaccination. I saw the nurse taking a new needle for loading injection but nit sure if she changed needle (a new one) for injecting into the baby. I never knew that they have to change needle after loading from vial and hence i did not pay attention after she loaded the injection. The hospital is XXXXXXX health center in XXXXXXX and She has been getting all her vaccinations from birth in that hospital. I never had a doubt on any of the nurses but this time i am not confident with the nurse because she seemed fairly new and a little fussy.. what if she had used a dirty needle. I called her again and she says that she is sure she used a new needle but am worried about blood borne diseases. She has been vaccinated against hepatitis a and b.. but what about hep c and hiv.. how can v enquire hospital to see the footage.. are vaccination rooms used only for vaccinating kids in each hospital so that sick kids wont be there.. im having sleepless nights after that encounter.. i have ocd and hence my family thinks am overreacting.. should i go for hiv test after 3 months..

Brief Answer:
No worries

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query.

Now a days as soon as the needle is used for injecting any one it is disposed. We don't get reused needles. So be double sure there is no chance for the spread of any blood borne disease from getting injected in hospital.

Any issue do follow up.

Take care.

If she was infected.. will she show any acute symptoms within 2 to 4 weeks.. if she doesnt show any symptoms can i assured that she has not caught any infection

She has got diarrhea after 4 days of rabipur vaccine.. can side effects appear after4 days or it ia due to the infected needle
