Brief Answer:
HSG is a procedure/test and not surgery!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have reviewed your information fully. HSG is to look if the pathway from the vaginal to the ovaries is patent. This will allow us to tell whether an egg from the ovaries can pass normally allowing for fertilizations and pregnancy. It is not surgery.
Given the fact that your menses is still on, this test is best done immediately after periods. Also, 7days of menstruation is normal. On another note, for how long have you been trying? How often do you get sex? Has the semen of your partner been analyzed?
I hope this helps. I wish you well and hope to hear back from you.
