Question : i have had abdominals xrays all week due to svere constaption.all views were taken taken from a disatance from the xray or lying down.today they xrayed my abdomen like a chest xray with my abdomanen against the board like when you do a chest xray with your chest against the board.can they view the entire abdomen as well no one has done it this way before.all week i have had these done and i never had abdomen pressed on standupo table.

Abdominal x-ray may be taken in both ways(lying down and erect position).
Indication of both views are different and these are advised based on clinical findings.
If free air is suspected in abdomen then straight X-ray abdomen is advised.

So,straight X-ray is advised based on clinical findings in your case and it is done to see free air under domes of diaphragm.
