Question : Hi,
I am taking Lexapro 15 mg, Solian 100 mg (amisulpride), Klonopin 3 mg and Keppra 1000mg. My psychiatrist just decided four days ago to give me 25 mg of Sulpiride to help to stop dopaminergic activiity of Solian at low dose. I just would like to know how long does it take to Sulpiride to work.
Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
It takes two to four weeks

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for posting to Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Sulpiride a typical antipsychotic, structurally similar to solian takes about at least two weeks to show clinically significant effects. In majority of cases the effect is complete by four weeks.

So it can be said that you will feel difference in desired outcome over a period of two to four weeks.

I hope this answers your question.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards

Dear Dr. XXXXXXX
Thank you for your answer, i just don't understand when you say that Sulpiride is structurally similar to Solian. As far as i know, there is no dopaminergic activity in Sulpiride, but there is in Solian at low dose. Am I right? In this case Sulpiride can stop the dopaminegic activity fo Solian?
Thanks a lot, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
yes you are right

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for reverting back to me.

You are right in saying that sulpiride do not have dopaminrgic effect at low dosages. In addition it does not have serotonergic effects alike amisulpiride which helps in obsessive compulsive disorder.

So you are right in saying that sulpiride do not have dopaminrgic effects at low dodage and rational treatment optionin Ocd.

I hope this helps you.
Thanks and regards.
