Thanks for writing in to us.

I Have previously served in a de addiction centre. Xanax is alprazolam and it causes serious problems when mixed with alcohol. Xanax has a half life of about 6 to 12 hours and 2 mg is a high dose.

It is recommended that you take a drink only after 24 hours to allow at least 2 to 3 half lives and in this way the interaction between xanax and alcohol drinking can be reduced. Please take care to drink in small amount.

Research has shown that taking xanax and alcohol together is a potentially dangerous combination and some times can even cause death due to effect on the brain.
