How Long After Sex Should You Wait To Take A

Detection of a suspected pregnancy after sexual act
Detailed Answer:
Hi....
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX
I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.
Pregnancy doesn't start the day you have an unprotected intercourse.
After an unprotected sexual act, sperm travels to Fallopian tube and fertilizes the egg to form an embryo.
Embryo travels down to uterus in next three to four days to implant into uterine lining.
At this juncture, hormones are released to promote implantation and to nourish the embryo.
HCG(Human chorionic Gonadotrophin ) is the most important one.
In next few days,it's levels escalate, which are later detected in a pregnancy test.
Most pregnancy tests are positive from the first day of a missed period,if the patient is having a regular cycle.
There is no way to detect a pregnancy prior to that.
If the menstrual cycles are irregular, you may do the test at least 21 days after you last had unprotected sex.
Test should be positive by then because the HCG Concentration is sufficiently high.
Hope that I have answered your query.
Stay healthy and stay blessed.
Regards.
