Question: Hello, I am wanting an answer to a couple of questions. I am taking 10mgs of Nebilet each morning to treat my heart failure and blood pressure. I am able to get out of bed and do somethings after six months in bed sick. I told you in a previous email that I had Rheumatic Fever a age ten and it went undiagnosed. Therefore at age 39 i had a prolapse of the motral valve, cardiomyopathy ,infective endocharditis and collapsed not knowing anything for five days. My surgery to replace the valve was done some months later. So now my gp keeps answering every question with......well this and that happens when you are in heart failure or that sympton is due to your heart falure. When I had the surgery and lived the drs were suprised at how strong I was and guaranteed I would live ten years, well it has been nineteen. How long can I live in heart failure as I know that I wont have a miraculous recovery. Looking forwatd to an answer.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I understand your concern and would explain that Nebilet is commonly indicated in heart failure, because it can help improve the patient's situation although it can lead to some adverse effects like fatigue and low physical performance.

From the other hand, these symptoms are commonly causes by heart failure.

You should know that heart failure is a clinical syndrome, which prognosis depends on many parameters and patients symptoms.

For this reason, I would like to know if you have any symptoms like shortness of breath or leg swelling.

I would also like to review your cardiac ultrasound report, if you have performed one recently.

It is also important important performing some other tests ( besides the cardiac ultrasound) to investigate if your symptoms are caused by heart failure or Nebilet adverse effects:

- NT pro BNP levels for heart failure
- blood electrolytes for possible imbalances
- kidney and liver function tests.

Optimizing your therapy may be needed based on the above test results, in order to help improve your situation.

I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need!

I would be glad to review your test reports as soon as you will be able to upload them for a second opinion!

Wishing good health,

Dr.Iliri
