How Long Can I Take Gabapentin For Shoulder Pain?

Question: I have been taking gabapentin for three months due to a torn tendon in my shoulder. I have no immediate appt for the ortho doctor at Worthing hospital as the list is so long. How much longer can I take this powerful drug for, as I have cataracts and my eyesight is quite blurry at times. Due to the drug? Thank you.

My patients are on this drug for several years and they have tolerated it well. It does not have any long term side effects as such. I recommend that you continue to take this drug until your next appointment if you are still in pain, if the pain has subsided then please stop this drug.
