Question : Hello, I've been on antibiotics (Bactrim) for a UTI for three days but the test strip shows I still have high leukocytes. The Nitrites are negative. Will it just take longer? Or do I have something more serious?

                                    Brief Answer:
Three days is too early to clear the UTI
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. Three days of bactrim is quite early to eliminate the infection.
2. Bactrim is to be taken for at least 5 to 7 days for mild infection and up to 10 days in moderate to severe infection.
3. Please drink adequate water and visit washrooms regularly to flush out the bacteria.
Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.
