Brief Answer:
a day is usually enough
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
it depends on whether its an extended release or immediate release drug. The immediate release should be fully eliminated within 24 hours. The extended release may stay in the body for up to 36 hours. Diltiazem was given to you to reduce the fast heart rate and prevent it from increasing again.
