How Long Does Lamisil Take To Have An Effect On Ringworm?

default
Posted on Tue, 16 Sep 2014
Question: I have been taking Lamisil for ringworm first the cream and then the tablets. The spot is right where my belt line is and is constantly covered by pants and underwear. The spot seems to get somewhat better but has not dissapeared after taking the cream for over a month and now the tablets for two weeks. Does Lamisil sometimes take longer in the groin area or is it time to say it is not ringworm?

Brief Answer:
Wait for another two weeks

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic,

I have gone through your history and understand your concern,

The history and symptoms are suggestive of fungal infection for which your doctor has prescribed a ideal medicine, by this time this should have come down. Some time fungal infection in this area by persist for longer duration because this area is not exposed frequently and not kept dry.

I would suggest you to continue both oral and topical anti fungal medicine for another 15 days, if the symptoms persists even after , you may have to undergo lab investigations like KOH mount preparation to reconsider the diagnosis.

Allergic reaction in this area cannot be ruled out as it is in the belt line. Avoid or try other belt, so that the symptoms may come down.
Thank you.
