Posted on Sat, 8 Apr 2017
Question: Hi

Im on a course of Sulpiride for like 1 month now. I started 50mg 3 times a day for 3 days then twice a day. to treat IBS.

now I have cold and my sinus causing me a very painful time.
and I cant take any antihestamine or nasal xylometazoline because it interact with sulpiride..

my question is:
how long does it take sulpiride to get out of my system? so I can use antihestamine and other medications?

thank you.

Brief Answer:
24hours!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

It requires about 24hours for the blood levels to decline to close to zero. I recommend that you give yourself a day before taking xylometazoline or any antihistamine.

In the interim, tylenol would help with the symptoms of headaches, body pains. Rinsing the nostrils with normal saline would help clear decongestion as well in the interim.

I will like to get your updates. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Kind regards!
