How Long Does Valacyclovir Take To Show Effect?

Question: Treatment plan for folliculits to hsv1. The rash was covering most of my body especially the neck.

Currently using Hibiclens and valacyclovor 500 mg 2 times per day as well as tea tree oil. The rash which has lasted for 2 months finally subsiding after using valacyclovor. Blood test igg > 5 should positive for hsv1 only. How long should I keep taking valacyclovor? Any other recommendation to prevent a relapse?

I tried doxycillian when it was staph initially suspected but not effective.

I understand your concern.

You took valacyclovir 500 mg to treat hsv1. That's a great antiviral choice to use in this case.

Usually, treatment will last 10 days when first started (initial therapy). Then, if infection will restart, can repeat the same dose for 3 other days.

Avoid contact with people with cold sores or highly populated areas to prevent infection.
Eat a healthy balanced diet to increase immunity.
Wash your hands well especially after visiting bathroom and when preparing/handling food.

Doxycyclin will treat bacterial infection only, If hsv1 was confirmed, doxycyclin won't help on that.
