How Long Does Alcohol Remain In The System?

Question: Hey dr,

I recently came home from a night out and I had one pint of apple cider which I believe is 5.0% alchool which I finished at 12am with it now being 1:09am Perth, Western Australia time. Now with my drivers license my BAC has to be at exactly 0. So my question is based on my weight which is 55kg and my height which is 6 ft 1 and that I am a Male what would be a rough estimate of how long until the alchool has left my system and how do you work this out exactly? Another thing one of my friends was sick and when I got home I took a Vitiam C tablet and had a through shower just in case.is there anything else worthwhile doing? Thanks for your help in advance.

Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

Although there is no fool proof system to determine how long it takes but on average our body metabolizes around 10-15 gram of alcohol in an hour. Considering one pint of intake and 5% concentration I feel the time will be less than three to four hours to metabolize the alcohol.

In addition it is better to take some mouth fresher as suppresses the smell of alcohol in your breath.
