How Long Does It Take For Lexapro To Take Effect After Recently Resuming Its Intake?

Question: I was off of Lexapro for about 5 months. Someone at a health food store told me about a Regal Labs Brand 100 MG Pure Hemp CBD Rich Oil which he said i could take but I needed to wean off of Lexapro and wean onto CBD. I did and was completely off of Lexapro for as I said about 5 months. During that time I have increased the dosage of CBD from an original 3 drops 3 x per day to 17 to 20 drops 3 x per day. Apparently, it did not work. I am now back on Lexapro as my anxiety levels were going thru the roof, I wanted to sleep a lot no interest in things, abrupt with others and withdrawn hoping I did not have to go anywhere, although I did in most cases. I need to know how long it may take for results. I can tell after 4 days of dosage (10 Mg of Lexapro) that I am less anxious but my mood is still not all that great in talking with others. Any suggestions are appreciated?

Brief Answer:
It may take 4 to 6 weeks for complete response

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Thanks for using our platform.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Lexparo is SSRI group of antidepressant which can take take four to six weeks to show complete response.

Often some response is evident by the end of one week and after two weeks of effective dose most individuals experience about 20% reduction in symptoms of anxiety.

As stated above 4-6 weeks is usual time but it may take upto 12 weeks to show complete effect. But considering your response over the last 10 days I feel 4-6 weeks is expected time before it becomes effective in your anxiety.

In case, after the four weeks, if you feel that there is plateau in response dose of lexapro can be increased to 15 mg as the effective dose of lexapro ranges upto 20 mg.

Although Hemp oil is advocated for anxiety by certain experts but it have very little value in anxiety. I am glad to know that you stopped hemp oil and started back Lexapro.

I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.

Thank you Dr XXXXXXX for your prompt response. I do feel less tightness and anxiety but my mood is not too good and I am still anxious about attending events (I am in a people business) and seeing people face to face.

I think I learned my lesson about the CBD Oil and will not abandon the Lexapro. It helped me (not all of the time) for 5 years but in general I felt good most of the time.

Not sure about why I always feel good at night. Is it because i can retreat to sleep??

Any further follow up thoughts are appreciated. I am also doing web'xs twice weekly with psychologist, Dr. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX who is somewhere in Europe, who has hit the nail on the head many times and the "talking out" therapy is seeming to help.

Hello,
Thanks for follow up.

I am glad to know that you are having active web sessions with psychologist and hope that you continue same as psychotherapy have equal role alike medications.

Although there are many DO's and DON'Ts but I feel it is very important to remain engage with one or another things. Secondly take plenty of water and citrous fruits (help in removing oxidative radicals from your body).

Feeling good at night indicates that you are more comfortable when alone and fear people due to ongoing anxiety. There is good possibility that things will improve in coming weeks.

I hope this helps you further.
Thanks and regards.
