How Long Does It Take For A Glass Injury On Face To Heal?

default
Posted on Fri, 19 Sep 2014
Question: I fell appox. 7 weeks ago face first on a cruise ship, my face & 2 water glasses that was mounted on the bathroom wall made full contact, breaking both glasses & bending the mounting brackets on the wall. The ship's physician glued between my eyes back together, I had 2 deep puncture wounds in the forehead area, one across my nose and I fractured my nose. My question is, How long does it take for glass to work its way out of the human body? I'm not no beauty queen but every time one on these starts to heal another piece of glass comes out and I have to start all over again. I know that I'm going to have plastic surgery on my nose & between my eyes but I want all the glass out of my face.....Also, Is there anything OTC that I can use to help draw the glass out of my face? I have only been to one dr concerning my face due to the fact that when I fell I injured my back, I have a small fracture in my lower back, so I have been doing a lot of bed rest. I am a 46 years old white female that before this accident I could go all day with a little powder on my face & I was fine with the way I looked.

Brief Answer:
plan plastic surgery as soon as possible

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Madam, I have studied your case and I felt sad for you. I understand that it is very painful to have such injuries and glass coming out of the wound.

I think there is no such time period which can be given, in which all glass particle will come out. Also there is no such medicine or ointment which you can apply over it.

I would suggest you to plan your plastic surgery as early as possible, because longer this glass particle stays in the wound, more harm they will cause.

Also I would forbid you to use any thing to remove this glass by your own. As it may cause more harm. So my recommendation is to plan surgery as early as possible.

I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other questions.

Thanks.
