When my periods begin they were irregular from starting but they use to come by delay of month or two but after my marriage, condition worsened. I used to get period in 6 months (once) and then i decided to take medication. I went to local doctors and experienced too. they did my pelvis ultrasound, thyroid and HB. My thyroid reports were always normal and they told me I have hormonal imbalance.
Lastly i went to military hospital - army base and i started my medication. Doctor is keeping me on medicines now my periods are normal comes every month but they come by medicine. And i would like to know do i have to be medications on throughout my life now.
Yes, at times i do have white discharge too.
Earlier it was once in 6 months but from last 6 months I am taking this medicine and now they come on time, I take 21 days course and then wait for my periods to come.
At times they come within week at times take 10 - 15 days and then come and when they stop I again repeat my course.

It is true as long as one is on medications, will have regular periods bu this is not the solution for problem.
I would recommend you to go for a complete hormonal assay after stopping medications for three months. This may give insight into what exactly is causing the irregularity of periods in you.
You may have to get assay of female hormones along with pituitary hormone estimation too.
