How Long Does It Take To Recover After Hemorrhoid Surgery?

default
Posted on Mon, 11 Aug 2014
Question: I am fifty five years old. Dr said I might have to hemorrhoid surgery. I weight 310 If I have the surgery done is there a chance they will come back. I am a truck driver and sit all the time. What do you think my recover time would be. Mostly what I have read is on younger people who work office jobs and not manual labor. Would losing weight help and is it best to put off surgery as long as possible and keep using Hemorrhoidal ointments etc. Maybe consider job change?

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query,

I dont think that surgery should be delayed. today this is simple procedure which offers immediate relief and permanent cure. Of course, I am talking about surgical procedure where hemorrhoidal knots are excised with electrocautery. Other methods such as laser removal or ligation are less efficient. Without surgery, the prognosis is hardly predictable. conservative treatment may relieve pain for some time but main cause wont be managed and you ll probably have difficulties for lifetime. Your job has some effect on this disease but changing job wont cause hemorrhoids to disappear,as well as weight loss. Hemorrhoids are veins in anal canal that become dilated and enlarged.
Recovery is fast, you may feel pain for 3-5 days, and you can back to work after 7 days. So,i recommends surgery definitely since you ll get rid of this forever, you can continue with your work and you wont lose time for ointments, baths and steroid creams.
