Brief Answer:
Viral illness

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to the HCM

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns but don't worry. Most likely cause of these symptoms are self limiting viral infections. They subside with in a period of few days ( 3-5 days in most cases).

You may continue the same treatment. Also, give acetaminophen for fever spikes (more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit). Repeat in case the fever persists for more than 6-8 hours.

Ensure regular feeds and oral fluids such as warm soups, milk, water.

Keep a room humidifier while sleeping if the weather is dry. You may use vapor rub while sleeping.

Hopefully this will help you. I would be happy to help you in case of any further questions.

Take care

Brief Answer:
Tixylix Is more safe

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Noisy cough can be due to many reasons. In infancy, the reason can be airway spasm with increased secretions or laryngitis due to inflammation. Levolin acts by relieving airway spasm while Protussa helps by suppressing urge to cough. Both actions are completely different. Pediatrician assess the choice of drug based on clinical examination. It seems that your child didn't have airway spasm on clinical examination which made your pediatrician to hold levolin.

I usually recommend my patients Tixylix baby syrup over Protussa. Tixylix can be given as 2.5 ml thrice daily. It has glycerol which helps in soothing throat and relieving cough in a much better way as compared to Protussa.

Hopefully this will help. I would be happy to help you in case of any further questions.

Take care

Brief Answer:
Salmodil plus is fine

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns but don't worry. In case the child has wheeze then salmodil plus will be useful. These illnesses usually improve over a few days.
Give him regular feeds and oral fluids.
