Brief Answer:
Yes,90% effectiveness after 72 hours.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM,

Yes,rabies vaccine can be taken within 72 hours following dog bite which will be 90% effective.

However, sooner you take the vaccine, will provide full protection.

If you have started '0' dose of rabies vaccine means first dose of the vaccine then it would be better to take anti rabies immunoglobulins to ensure full protection.

Also it depends on the category of the dog bite.

You can ask to your treating doctor who will know about it.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have more doubts.

Regards,

Dr.Sandip kabra
