Question : I went to the Dr Friday night with two yellow shots very behind my tongue. The Dr said it was a viral infection and gave me acyclovir. I had had the sore two days before. I was in so much pain but she also gave me lidocaine and it has helped. How long am I contagious and about how long does it take to go away.

Viral infections as such should fade out normally within a week.

With regards to how long you could be contagious , this could even go up to two to three weeks after treatment.
