Brief Answer:
It depends on how well your system can adapt

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting on XXXXXXX

Drowsiness is the most common side effect of meclizine and the last effect of the drowsiness depends on your age (in your case the effect can last for a couple of hours). Nervous system (CNS) side effects due to meclizine include headache, drowsiness and sedation. Motor skills may be impaired. With continued therapy, sedation due to meclizine diminishes. If already on meclizine and you realize that drowsiness is persistent or severe, then you need to inform your doctor immediately for an alternative prescription or adjustment. The lowest dose is 12.5mg while the maximum daily dose is 50 mg and should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. If you are on any dose higher than 12.5mg, you may attempt lowering the dose to see if it gets better.

Hope this helps and wish you the best.
