Question: when you get too many needles in the veins for IVs or due to blood etc.. can it eventually cause further problems or will veins recover most times?

Brief Answer:
Depends on IV use and many other risk factors

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. If the needles were sterile and purely for medical purposes by nurses and trained professional then yes the maximum one can get is some thrombophlebitis which self resolves and sometimes need some medication.

if by needles you mean IV drug abuse or self injections then that is some serious issue and may have led to many complication from blood borne infections to local pathologies.

I would say at age of 22 , there should be no reason damaging enough to prevent recovery so yes recovery is possible and very easy. Talk to your doctor and let them have a look in this regard.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.

I was referring to getting poked too many times in the arms or the hands, for maintenance fluids or IV medications for hospital purposes only a nurse once told me that if we are stuck too many times for blood draws IV medications maintenance fluids that eventually the veins will all disappear and just will not recuperate and we will eventually get stuck in the neck because the arms and the hands veins will not be able to recuperate even when we are hydrated. How true is this?

Brief Answer:
Very rare.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

With only hospital purposes, i would like you to know that odds of such venous damage is very late and happens with a frequency no one goes through. Also it happens more with IV lines that stay inside for more than 72 hours. Common concern is thrombophlebitis and happens to inflame the vein site but that even resolves most of the time.

What nurse told you is very rare and happens once in a million time only in cases where IV line is the only portal for everything and for long term use and stays in and not with enre IV fluids for dehydration or any blood drawing.

I hope it helps.
