Brief Answer:
Possibility of bronchitis is more

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Possibility of bronchitis is more in your case.
Any chest surgery can cause bronchitis post operatively.
Treatment of bronchitis is inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid.
So better to add inhaled corticosteroid along with advair. This will speed up your recovery and decrease symptoms.
With inhaled corticosteroid (ICS), it takes mostly 6-7 months for complete resolution in bronchitis.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.

Thank you for the reply. It is my understanding that advair contains a corticosteroid and a bronchodilator which is why it was selected. I will ask the doctor. Would flovent be a good choice for corticosteroid?

Thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
I can understand your concern.
Fluticasone and budesonide are good ICS (inhaled corticosteroid).
So discuss about starting any of the above ICS in your case.
I don't know what flovent contents? If it is fluticasone than this is good for you.
Hope I have solved your query.

Advair has fluticasone and salmeterol, so I am already taking the ICS you suggested. Flovent is a brand name for fluticasone.
I have been doing an interval training program where i run and walk for 30 minutes. Will excercise help improve pulmonary function?

Thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
If advair is containing fluticasone than no need to change. Advair is not available in XXXXXXX so I am not knowing about this.
No need for flovent.
And yes, exercise is good for lung functions.
Chest physiotherapy and deep breathing exercises are good and known to improve lung functions.
Please let me know
1. Have you ever consulted physiotherapist?
2. Have you ever visited Pulmonary Rehabilitation center?
3. Are you taking advair daily?

Hi,

I have not seen a physiotherapist or been to pulmonary rehab center. Insurance does not cover either unless you have a chronic disease.
I am taking advair 2 times each day. Morning and evening.

Ideally you should consult physiotherapist and get done chest physiotherapy and deep breathing exercises.
But if you have insurance problem than you can search on net about various techniques of chest physiotherapy and do by your own.
Yoga and pranayam are also good techniques for improvement in lung functions.
