Question : hi my name is XXXX, I'm 29 years old, 5'10, 150 pounds and i don't excersise outside of work and I work at a nursing home as a C.N.A full time, and I feel very sluggish in the middle of my work shift, and on my off days, and I believe it may be because I don't eat enough food, during the day, cause I only eat about 500 to 1000 calories per day, so I was wondering how many calories should I be eating a day to have constant energy throughout the day?

Brief Answer:
Insufficient caloric intake.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The caloric intake you described is insufficient for men especially and is likely to be associated with your symptoms. No caloric reduction below 1200 is advisable without medical supervision.

I would suggest increasing the daily calories up to 2000 per day to look for improvement. If the symptoms persist then further workup can be advised.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

OK. iam tryna understand this. so if I was bedridden , I would need at least 1200 to survive daily, and this 2000 calories you mentioned is based on my current activity level, so if I was working out, what would my calorie amount probably be then?

Brief Answer:
Explained.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Immobile lifestyle is equated to be being bedridden. Even with activity, the add on would be an XXXXXXX 500 kcal. So, 2500 would be the target in that case.

Hope I have answered your query.
