Betnesol drops’ is a topical steroid. These drops are used in inflammatory conditions of ear. The main function of this kind of steroid is to reduce the inflammation in that area and decrease associated redness, swelling in the area.

These drops must be used under medical supervision only. Without proper examination it is very difficult to say whether the infection is viral, bacterial or fungal. Use of steroid without proper examination in infants is strongly not recommended.

Please get in touch with your primary care physician and get him examined first.

In mean time,

Give him symptomatic treatment as per need. Give Tylenol for pain and discomfort. Just clean the ear from outside and do not put anything in the ear.
