Question : Had a lump on my back that had been there for over a year. Thought it was a cyst since I've had them before. It got painful and blew up into a boil. When it broke through it was hard fat looking stuff that was more like damp tissue. Wouldn't smear. Kind of crumble but damp. I think most of it came out and appears to be healing. Any guess?
Brief Answer:
It could be an Infected Sebaceous cyst.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description,it looks like an Infected Sebaceous cyst.
Sebaceous cyst occurs in relation to hair follicle. Some times,it gets infected and ruptures spontaneously. This happened in your case.
Though the contents might have come out ,the CYST WALL remains. If the Cyst wall persists, reaccumulation occurs leading to recurrence of the Cyst.
After Antibiotic and Anti inflammatory medicines,it will heal completely. As the cyst wall will be present,it has to removed completely by a Surgeon.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions,I will clarify further.
Wish you good health and speedy recovery.
Regards
