Brief Answer: Epidural is safe Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for your query. After going through your query, epidural anaesthesia is safe and it can be used in the post operative period to reduce pain (If you may have) in a much better way as compare to conventional painkiller tablets and injection. I do not know the surgery planned for you but most of the time they are not a lengthy one. The other way of doing it is by general anaesthesia that is by putting a tube in the wind pipe (trachea). Personally I prefer the epidural with above said obvious reason. Having said that anaesthetist is the right person to decide which is best for you. Take care and wish you a successful arthroscopic surgery. If you have further query I shall be glad to answer them. Regards

Like I said in first one. They will not give him a epidural or put him to sleep. They claim he is not getting enough oxygen. It is below 90. I wonted to know if there is away of just numbing the leg?

Brief Answer: Nebulisation with low spinal anaesthesia Detailed Answer: Hi It’s good to see you again. I have gone through the whole discussion we have base on that my advice would be- 1. Increase the lung functioning (capacity) to improve the oxygen saturation level by giving5 days course of antibiotic ( augmentin) along with nebulisation with duolin and budacort.Along with breathing exercises with 3 ball breathing exerciser. Under medical supervision. 2. He can be given low spinal anaesthesia preferably by epidural. So that the effect remains only up to waistline. The drug preferred should be short acting. Just discuss with your doctor. I hope this answer your query. Take care Regards
