How Quickly Does The Follicle Size Usually Increase?

Question : Hi.. I am 30 yeras old and we are trying to conceive since last 6 months. I am on clomid 100 and undergoing follical study. On Day 1o follical measured 12.9X11, endometrium 7.2mm and on Day 12 again did ultrasound. Dr said there is no change in follical size and asked to do U/S again on day 14. Is it something normal?

Thanks for your query.

I have read you query and I understand your concerns about no change in follicular size.

Following is my reply:

1) Follicular size will not increase much in one or 2 days in some women and is normal. The increase will be later and slow.

2) If there is no increase by 14th day also then you might need gonadotrophin hormone injections ( like HMG ) to increase follicular size.

3) Request doctor to do transvaginal ultrasound scan for follicular monitoring as this is associated with better measurements than transabdominal ultrasound scan.

Hello Saumya,

Thanks for your reply. It relaxed me. Till how many days ovulation can occur? If i happen to take gonadotrophin hormone injections on day 14 in how many days i can accept ovulation to happen?

Looking at previous follicular size, it might take around 3 to 4 days for follicle to develop into mature one for ovulation to start.
