Question : Hi, my first day of my last menstrual was on 1st Dec 2015. Started Duphaston on 31st Dec which prescribed by a gynae. I took a home pregnancy test on 2nd XXXXXXX 2016 & it was positive. Been having morning sickness, sore breast, mild stomach cramp & stomach bloated. Today will be my last dose of taking Duphaston. So I am wondering whether can the positive pregnancy test be trusted?
Brief Answer:
Very reliable
Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
Yes dear positive pregnancy test has a reliability of 99.7% and is false in <0.3% of cases so take this test as a good news and keep taking duphaston as advised along with folic acid.
Visit your gynaecologist on regular intervals and get all the needful tests done.
In case you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Regards

1.) will Duphaston gives false positive result since i had the test while i am taking Duphaston.
2.) i went to GP & did an ultrasound yesterday, doctor said that my SAC is low. should i trust GP? any advice to me on this matter?
3.) when is the best time to meet a gynae OR re-do a pregnancy test?
4.) i do not know should i continue with Duphaston since today will be my last dose. please advise accordingly.
5.) should i increase my folic acid intake? i am now taking 1 tablet a day only. if yes, how many should i increase to?
6.) should i stop taking instant 3 in 1 coffee?

Brief Answer:
Continue duphaston and folic acid
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, sorry for the delay in response.
Yes continue duphaston till you have fetal heart activity on ultrasound.
Duphaston has no effect on results of pregnancy test and in case you want you can repeat pregnancy test anytime.
You got ultrasound too early so your GP is right as there is no conclusive proof of pregnancy visible on ultrasound till 7 weeks of gestation.
Visit your gynaecologist after 2 weeks from now and get ultrasound and investigation done.
Till then continue folic acid single tablet and duphaston as before.
There is no harm in taking 1 or 2 cups of coffee so you can take it as before.
