Question : Male 75 with Primary biliary cirrhosis stage 4 "auto immune disease" not ALCOHOL. I hads a mild stroke 2
years ago. I am on Coumadin. Cardiologist ok for surgery. I know people are different but can you give me a
rough idea what % have compliceations. Most importantly what is the risk of DEATH % . I know that healthy people . have a 1% risk of death. I am considering having a total knee operation. I do not want to risk dying
to be able to walk better.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Let me assure you that total knee replacement is a widely done procedure and things rarely go wrong. I would insist you not to panic about complications and death. As such, Congestive heart failure, Hemorrhage and Limping are the complications of concern. 99.75% of patients survive the treatment.

You did not address the stage 4 Pbc cirrhosis stage 4.

Am I to assume that this does not increase the risk of surgery?

Yes, I purposefully avoided the issue of primary biliary cirrhosis. It will call for dosage adjustments but other than that it would not directly increase the risks involved in surgery.
