Question : Hello Doctor,

I am diabetic and have a history of kidney stones. In the last 12-15 years, I have faced kidney stone problem thrice.

I go to the gym regularly and wanted to check if I can take protein supplements? Or will this not be right given my kidney stone history.

Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you are known to have recurrence of Kidney stone disease and want to start protein supplements .

Since stone formation basically involves Calcium.Magnesium,Uric acid and Phosphorus metabolism there is no harm in taking protein supplements.It will not have any negative effect on your kidneys.
