Brief Answer:
With recent advances there are no potential problems of Laser for BPH.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have been diagnosed to have BPH and looking for best modality of treatment .

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) What is the size of Prostate gland reported on Ultrasound Scanning ?

Normally we advise use of lesor prostatectomy if the gland is bigger than 60 gms .

Laser surgery minimizes the intra operative bleeding and hospital stay only for two days .With advent of various types of laser and modern equipments there are very minimal chances of any post operative problems like bleeding , scarring etc .

With highly experienced Urologist and technology There are very minimal incidences of repeat surgery .

The best alternate to laser surgery is gold standard procedure of Trans Urethral Resection of Prostate (TURP) which has been practiced world wide since decades .The procedure and technique in both the modalities are similar except use of energy to resect the prostate .In TURP conventional electricity is a energy source used to resect the prostate .The cost of TURP is comparatively very cheaper than laser surgery .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

After weeks of pain, bleeding, and passing clots, I hoped for relief. I now experience multiple adverse effects. Bladder, groin pain, chronic infections, leaks, urgency, post void retention, urinary incontinence. I regret having greenlight laser surgery.

2. still seeing blood after 4 weeks, stings when I urinate. The urgency is very strong, sometimes I wait out the urgency and it lessens considerably. At my 2-week appointment, my urologist/surgeon told me that recovery is "a process" and that the amount of blood I'm seeing is normal.

3.my surgeon warned some incontinance and retrograde ejaculation. bleedings are very distressing, l made the mistake of drinking plenty of water only to find the clots soon formed and blocked off the bladder.I thought that once you had the lazer surgery that was it but am learning the hard way is is ongoing misery.

here are some of the comments I am getting online. Any thoughts on this? I am not sure what size is the prostate. I think it is more an issues with the urethra having some blockage. I go to the bathroom very often in recent weeks, generally every hour or so. A cytoscopy was done.

Brief Answer:
All your problems are due to severe post operative infection .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up.I do not understand why you missed to post all these problems in the beginning .

Any way all the problems that you have are due to infection .

You need to take appropriate antibiotics as per culture report along with urinary antispasmodics like Flavoxate twice daily . This may take 2-3 weeks for complete cure

Thanks and Regards.
