Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail. If there is uterine artery notching in late in pregnancy then it is usually due to uterine vascular resistance and impaired uterine circulation. In other words features for intrauterine growth restriction or pregnancy induced hypertension must be assessed for, especially in bilateral notching. Unilateral notching of the uterine artery on the same side of the placenta if the placenta is along one lateral wall (right or left) carries the same significance as bilateral notching. Majority of women with persistence of an otherwise unilateral notch have a normal outcome. It is due to the risk of pregnancy induced hypertension, which may need to be controlled, that your doctor has suggested admission to hospital.

Clinical evaluation of the patient is most important when taking decisions regarding further course of action.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
