Question : Hi Dr RK. I am following up on my previous questions about lower left stomach issue. I had a blood test done for H pylori and attached results in my previous correspondence with you. IGG and IGM were negative. IGA was 9.7 which was equivocal. You had suggested I could go for H pylori treatment.
Then I got a H pylori stool test and it came negative. How should I think about this now. Should I still go for H pylori treatment. Thanks.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Sorry for the delayed reply. (I have come online after a long period).
Stool antigen test for H.pylori is more sensitive.
Since it came as negative for H.pylori, you need not take treatment for H.pylori.

Dr.R.K.

                                    Thank you for your response.
I was taking probiotics regularly before the stool test. Can that affect the results.
Also are there false negatives with the stool test.
Thanks.

Hi,
No that cannot affect the results.
False negative stool tests can occur if PPI, antibiotics or bismuth is taken.
