How Should An Injured Toe Nail Be Treated After Accidentally Stubbing The Toe?

Question: I stubbed my toe hard, the nail was injured and the doctor removed it and gave me An antibiotic cream. The lower part of the toe is not broken he thinks the top part may be dislocated but he couldn’t put it in place and told me to go to my doctor when I arrive home in the U.K. on Friday. He gave me a splint. If left untreated for 3 days is this going to cause complications? I’m on a small island in Croatia unless I leave early there’s not a lot I can do...

Brief Answer:
No complications should occur over this time period

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Over a 3 day period there should not be any complications because this is not enough time for any permanent healing of displaced or fractured bones to occur.

This is not enough time for any of the bones to become melded together in a permanent state.

When you arrive home, your doctor may suggest imaging to definitely determine if there is any fracture or dislocation and proceed according to the results.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions.

Regards
