Question : I have been suffering dizziness, light headedness, nauseous, tingling in my right fingers and chest heaviness. I have had blood tests, a chest x-ray, ct scan and an ekg with no results, everything is normal. I can not function for more than an hour before I feel too ill. This has been happening for 3 weeks now. I was in a storage unit that had hundreds of soiled clothes and mouse droppings in it. after 2 hours in the unit I started to feel ill. I have no motor problems. I am not dizzy to where the room spins. I have been given Medicine to combat the nausea and dizziness but not working.

Brief Answer:
sounds like the psychosomatic disorder

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

These symptoms can be caused by various disorders including heart disease, pneumothorax, pulmonary embolism, asthmatic attack, etc but clinical examination and the tests you've mentioned should have provided more than adequate data to document a diagnosis. Since all tests seem to be negative, the most likely cause is a psychosomatic disorder related to anxiety.

The droppings and dirt would not have caused such symptoms. This is particularly so because the time between exposure to the alleged "offenders" and the initiation of symptoms was so short - too short to justify any symptom.

If you also have any shortness of breath or too many breaths per minute then it could be some sort of panic attack. A panic attack would fit perfectly - such symptoms are very common during panic attacks. Not getting better despite the treatment is also against an "organic" disease.

Perhaps your doctor could consider anxiety as the cause of the symptoms. Since I can't diagnose such a disorder without examining you, obviously, but the lack of objective evidence suggests anxiety. Please discuss this with your doctor.

I hope it helps! Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind Regards!
