Question : Adult fever of 103 for three days of 103 and above, been seen in O.R. nothing on labs sent home on
tylenol, chills and fever persists! Should i make another Dr. Appt. I was told that this could last up to a week!
I feel lousy!!! YYYY@YYYY No rash or outward symptoms except profuse aches and sweats!!!

Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Most probably it will be viral fever.
How ever since you have symptoms like sweating and body ache , we have to rule out certain diseases.
Malaria have to be ruled out first. Get a peripheral smear or a rapid malarial test from nearby laboratory. Do a dengue antigen test also.
As of now take adequate bed rest and paracetamol for fever. Do tepid sponging to reduce body temperature. Drink plenty of water. If fever persist for more than five days, consult a physician and get evaluated.
