How Should Hip Pain After Intercourse Be Managed?

default
Posted on Thu, 20 Jan 2022
Question: Hi Dr. Rynne, My husband and I made love last weekend and ever since my left hip has been painful. I thought it would go away but it is getting worse. I notice it walking (mild), up stairs (more painful) , down stairs (more painful) should I get this checked out?

I've never had any issues with my hips before. An no, we were not doing anything unusual. Nothing out of the norm except my left hip has been bothering me ever since. We've been married 33 years, never had issues before...

Brief Answer:
Can be a muscle spasm.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The pain in the hip that you have can be related to mild capsular inflammation, decreased levels of calcium and vitamin D3 or due to mild muscle spasm. Rest, oral muscle relaxants, hot compress and calcium supplements can help in recovering the pain in 2-3 weeks.
Avoid all painful activities and in case the pain increases do consult an orthopedist and get stronger medicines prescribed.

I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.

Wishing you good health.
Regards.
