Question: My sister was feeling pain in the her shoulders, we got her scanned and attached is the report. The report says it is FIBROADENOMA. Please review the report and advise. Do they dissolve on its own? Are they harmless? Should they be surgically removed?

Brief Answer:
fibroadenosis more likely which responds best to treatment.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

* The report is indicative of possible fibroadenosis of the breast due to hormone imbalance with small fibroadenomas. The shoulder pain may or may not be associated with the same.

* Those lumps which are of fibroadenosis origin they dissolve with time by correction of hormone disturbances, while those of fibroadenoma do not dissolve and need surgery.

Kindly provide me further details so that I can answer your query completely.

1. Details of pain - exact site (which shoulder), type, frequency, severity, radiation if anywhere.
2. Breast discomfort if any.
3. Menstrual pattern - regular or irregular.
4. Taking any medicines currently or not.

Awaiting for your response.

Brief Answer:
Follow up.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

* The shoulder pain seems muscular pain, separate issue from breast swelling.
* Irregular period favors fibroadenosis due to hormone imbalance.

My guidelines at present are:
- Drink more liquids to maintain hydration.
- Consume high fiber diet with more intake of green leafy veg, cereals, pulses, legumes for better recovery.
- Certain hormone medications and vitamin e helps fibroadenosis recovery through prescription of your doctor.
- Another reason for shoulder and hand pain has to be evaluated with ortho surgeon as per the case need.
- Be in regular consulting with your doctor for follow up evaluation.

There is no need of any surgical intervention at present time.

I hope my answer helps you. Feel free to ask further doubts. Wish you fine recovery.

Thank you.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
