Brief Answer:
Need to rule out gout and septic arthritis

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

After onset persistent knee pain in a young woman is mainly concerning for 3 reasons- septic arthritis (infection), gout (due to the formation of urate crystals in the joint) or trauma (which I believe has not happened to your knee).

Physical examination, X-ray of the knee joint and arthrocentesis (joint fluid analysis) are required at this point to come to a definite condition.

Infection is especially concerning as it can cause severe joint damage. So please be advised to follow up with the urgent care or your primary care provider as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, apply a cold compress, continue Ibuprofen.
Take rest, keep the affected leg elevated

Hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you need further clarification.
Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi
